She spoke about the mutual assistance clause under Article 42(7) TEU and the EU's legal framework for EU-Ukraine relationship against the backdrop of the Russian invasion. In her presentation entitled “The War Against Ukraine from the EU Perspective”, she compared Article 42(7) TEU to Article 5 of the NATO Treaty and the solidarity clause under Article 222 TFEU. In addition to presenting the legal foundations of EU security architecture, she discussed the potential impact of mutual assistance obligations on Ukraine’s bid for EU membership.
